raps and compresses
External applications, which include wraps and compresses as well as baths, medical washes, massages and rubs, have been known in our culture for thousands of years as healing therapeutic measures.
Perhaps some of you still remember the potato or quark compresses that were often used on children during the cold season when a scratchy throat and cough would not go away. Some of you may also remeber chest rubs with goose fat (for younger generations "wick medinight"). Often, all it takes to get well, is a little rest and warmth, along with care and sleep.
It is therefore not surprising that many mothers resort to ointments, oils or hot water bottles as soon as their newborn has wind or digestive problems, in order to eas their baby´s discomfort.
What can wraps and compresses be used for, and what should be considered? What about the different oils and ointments? Which one is appropriate when? Is it better to use a compress or a wrap? What is the difference? HOw do I make a quark wrap for brest inflammation? Can these initial therapeutic measures also be used for older children or adults?
If you are keen to learn the basics of wrapping and compresses, I`m running a 2 hour workshop for at least 6 people. Its €35 per person.
