acupuncture - moxibustion - taping

Acupuncture is a gentle and very effective method that provides relief from various discomforts during pregnancy, labor and the postpartum period. These includes, for example, back pain of different causes, nausea and vomiting, heartburn, edema, premature conractions, headaches, as well as blocked milk ducts, low milk supply and delayed uterine involution. These are just a few of the many conditions which acupuncture can be helpful.

Many pregnant women are familiar with acupuncture for birth preparation. In this method, acupuncture needles are placed one a week starting from the 36th week of pregnancy. They help stimulate labor, promote emotional balance and create overall harmony, thereby preparing the body for birth.

Another treatment method is moxibustion. In this technique, a moxa stick is used to stimulate a specific acupuncture point. One of its main applications is for mothers whose babies are in a breech position to encourage the baby to turn into a head-down position so that nothing stands in the way of a natural birth.

Kinesiology Taping is also becoming indcreasingly popular. It has proven effective for a wide range of chronic and acute pain. The tapes are applied to painful muscle or joint areas (e.g. neck and shoulder tension). They can also support lymphatic flow, such as edema, swollen legs, or engorged breasts, making them a helpful therapeutic option during pregnancy and the postpartum period.

Another area of application for kinesiology tape is scar treatment (e.g. after a cesarean section) and the treatment of rectus diastasis (separated abdominal muscles after birth).

Acupuncture is not covered by statutory health insurance and therefore must be paid for privately. However, it is possible to submit the invoice to your health insurance company. Some insurers reimburse part of the cost of acupuncture, so it is always worth checking with your insurance provider in advance.
